Spherical Wave in the Theater of Epidaurus

Parameters for the Example

  • The antique theater of Epidaurus is modeled, but only with 30 lanes (instead of 60), and discretised by 3545 triangles.
  • The interval [0,60] is divided into 200 equidistant timesteps.
  • A spherical wave modulated by a Gaussian models the incoming wave. Its origin is marked by the green dot.
  • The solution in the exterior domain is calculated in several, wished points. The result is just presented for the point at the red dot. The value of the incoming wave, the scattered wave and the total wave is plotted with respect to the timestep

View of the model with the most important points:
- green point: origin of the spherical wave
- red point: place at which the solution is presented

The result at the red point:
- uinc: the incoming wave without any reflecting
- usca: the scattered wave just resulting by reflections
- utot: the total wave (addition of uinc and usca)
